The purpose of this listserve is to provide a forum for discussion of issues related to KPFA, Pacifica Radio and 'things in general'. That is to say this list will include people who are mainly interested in Pacifica governance issues and people who are more of the 'things in general' orientation. I find that there are symmetries between the way people think about broader issues and how the same people may approach Pacifica governance questions. I hope that the list will provide a good balance between people who have general topics they would like to discuss and people who would like to discuss governance stuff. Many of the people on this list will be new to Pacifica governance issues, and some will care about them more or less than others. With respect to this latter group, one of the short term objectives of this list is to educate, by a sort of osmosis, the wider community about what is at stake in the upcoming board elections. While we all welcome vigorous debate and spirited discussion, and while I hope we can develop a high tolerance for same, I also hope that the discourse on the list remains positive and not poisoned by indelicate or insensitive behavior by list participants.
